Hope for the Holidays Courier-Journal

At Volunteers of America, we believe the words of Mother Teresa, who said, “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.”

Perhaps no time is more critical for creating ripples of change than our holiday season. At Unity House, our welcoming home for families facing homelessness, we are currently serving more than 20 families and 50 children who are hoping to celebrate a happy holiday season. We are helping pregnant and parenting mothers who are overcoming substance use disorder at our Freedom House. Almost 70 men who are in recovery will also be with us for the holidays.
