Babies of mothers who do not receive our services are more likely to experience child abuse. Freedom House is a proven and effective solution. We can help now.
By breaking ground today and investing in a state-of-the-art facility for comprehensive, integrated addiction recovery services, we are answering the call to help stop this epidemic. We cannot arrest and incarcerate our way out of the heroin and opioid epidemic. We need to treat addiction as a health crisis and give people in Kentucky the tools they need to stop.
Jennifer Hancock, Volunteers of America President & CEO
We will double in the capacity of Freedom House, our home for pregnant and parenting women who are battling addiction. Outpatient recovery services will also expand to better serve the individuals and families who need us most. Our expansion is critical to meeting the need for all pregnant and parenting women in Louisville and Manchester. The waiting list is up to 35 women at any given time.
With an anticipated 30 healthy babies born in the first year of Freedom House's expansion, saving the people of Louisville $2.8 million in health and safety costs, we can expect a $2 million return on investment for our city in the first year alone.
