S.T.O.P. (Stop The Spread of HIV Through Outreach and Prevention)

S.T.O.P. (Stop The Spread of HIV Through Outreach and Prevention) - Louisville & Kentuckiana

Volunteers of America's S.T.O.P. (Stop the Spread of HIV Through Outreach and Prevention) program provides HIV prevention, testing, and outreach in Metro Louisville and Kentuckiana.

The S.T.O.P. program provides educational information and safer sex supplies to prevent the spread of HIV. This unique, in-the-field approach includes case management services and one-on-one interaction with clients to lower their risk for the virus. S.T.O.P. also provides pre-test and post-test counseling and referrals to HIV-related and non-HIV related resources, including alcohol and drug assessments.

The S.T.O.P. program also works with local health departments, drug and alcohol treatment facilities, and community centers to provide resources available within the communities. Through partnerships with Walgreens and the Council on Prevention and Education: Substances, Inc. (COPES), our team works to reduce the spread of HIV among Louisville's African-American community – identified as a high-risk population by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention – by offering testing and educational resources at various locations in the community.
