Volunteers of America Mid-States is being honored by Personal Counseling Service, Inc. with the 2015 Nancy & John Keck Non-Profit Award! This is one of four “Samaritan Awards” bestowed each year by Clarksville, Indiana-based organization to businesses and individuals who uphold the value of compassion and social consciousness. The Nancy & John Keck Non-Profit Award is honoring Volunteers of America because of our innovative programs and collaborative approach to solving community problems. Since 2013, Volunteers of America has provided a Supportive Services for Veterans Families (SSVF) program in the counties of Floyd, Clark and Harrison in Indiana for veterans and their families who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness. Volunteers of America has also provided a Developmental Disabilities Services program in Southern Indiana since 2003. We are honored to be chosen as a community Samaritan.
The award ceremony will take place during the 7th annual Norman Melhiser Samaritan Awards Dinner from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25, at Plantation Hall, Huber's Orchard & Winery, Starlight, Indiana. The event, themed “Invest in Life,” will focus on the service and sacrifices our community's active military and veterans.
