You are invited to our Power of 1 Breakfast!
If you haven’t yet RSVP’d, one reason to mark your calendars for our Power of 1 Breakfast on Wednesday, September 16, 7:30 to 9 a.m. is to meet Marcus Stubbs. Marcus, a junior at Western Kentucky University, is an exemplary student. Marcus has won multiple awards, maintains his studies while being active with the business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi and working at a program that encourages middle school students to begin planning their paths to college.
You would never guess that 4 years ago Marcus was homeless and living in our Louisville Family Housing Services with his mother and three siblings. While a senior at Waggener High School, Marcus and his family came to Volunteers of America after his mother struggled to make ends meet despite working hard at a job she loved as a church administrator. Like so many of the families we serve, his mother could not pay rent on top of their family’s other living expenses on her single-income salary.
Meet Marcus and hear him share his story at our Power of 1 Breakfast. Please RSVP to RobinM@voamid.org to reserve your seat today. In the spirit of Western Kentucky University’s fight song, help us “stand up and cheer” for Marcus!
