Volunteers of America celebrates National Recovery Month
Volunteers of America residents celebrating their sobriety at the 2013 Volunteers of America Recovery Picnic.
In honor of National Recovery Month this September, the men and women Volunteers of America serves in our addiction recovery programs will join the fun at the Recovery Celebration in Louisville on Sunday, September 20.
The Recovery Celebration, hosted by Seven Counties Services' Jefferson Alcohol and Drug Abuse Center (JADAC), is a free, family-friendly event for the whole community to support those in recovery from addiction. Participants will enjoy live music, food, stories of recovery, as well as the featured art exhibit: Inside the Experience of Addiction. Face-painting, balloon twisting, and caricature drawing will be offered for all the families joining the celebration. The Celebration will also include a “Recovery Countdown.”
Events like the Recovery Celebration are important to not only support the men and women who are working to overcome addiction, but also to raise awareness of the disease of addiction as it affects individuals, families, and communities.
