Volunteer Spotlight: GE Appliances, A Haier Company

We could not do the work we do in our communities if it weren't for our donors, volunteers and community partners who so generously support our mission and the work Volunteers of America Mid-States does across our five-state service region. GE Appliances, a Haier Company, has supported Volunteers of America for years through holiday collection drives, volunteer projects and fundraising activities.

Earlier this month, a team of nearly 40 GE employees from the company's Veterans' Network and Supplier Quality team, including Positive Change Society member and dedicated supporter James Darmstadt, volunteered at our Shelby Street Clinical Campus in Louisville, KY, donating their time to make the campus beautiful for the men and women we serve there, including our veteran residents. The volunteers' projects included landscaping, painting, installing a new flag pole, repairing and installing picnic tables in our playground and campus park and creating art for the Veterans Lounge.

"We are always thrilled to partner with organizations in our community that are committed to supporting and taking care of veterans. Volunteers of America takes on the challenging role of seeking out and assisting veterans in crisis, and our Veterans' Network has truly been proud to support that cause," said Katie Sobotta, Ownership Experience Leader at GE. "The fall project was a perfect opportunity for us to partner with Volunteers of America and devote some time and energy to the needs of the Shelby Street Campus."

We are grateful for GE's continued support and dedication to giving back to the men and women who served our country.
