VOA opens Freedom House center for women recovering from addiction

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new facility to help women, children and families overcome opioid addiction has opened in Louisville.

The new Volunteers of America center is on South Second Street near St. Catherine Street. It's an expanded Freedom House, which houses pregnant and parenting women recovering from addiction.

It includes a nursery, lounge, kitchen and playrooms.

Women living there will get daily therapy sessions, training and support from other residents.

"I know the services Volunteers of America provides save lives, change families and transform communities," said Megan Coldiron, a Freedom House graduate and recovery professional. "I know because I have lived it."

Volunteers of America also offers recovery programs at two other locations in Louisville.
