VOA Today: Freedom House recognized as a certified addiction treatment center
Volunteers of America Mid-States, and more specifically, our colleagues at Freedom House, have recently received some extremely exciting and encouraging news. Earlier this month, the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), the national organization that sets standards for addiction recovery and care services, acknowledged the Freedom House residential program as belonging to its first cohort of certified treatment centers.
The Freedom House program, which serves pregnant and parenting women, was one of only seven treatment programs in the entire county to receive the Level of Care certification by ASAM. This certification acknowledges that the clients at Freedom House receive state-of-the-art and results-oriented care by staff. The certification is also used to help connect prospective clients and health-care providers with high-quality treatment providers that deliver evidence-based care.
This certification comes as we are all gearing up to welcome the 200th Healthy Baby born at Freedom House sometime this month, and is an emboldening achievement. Regarding the news, Jennifer Hancock, CEO of VOA Mid-States, stated: “We know how hard our Volunteers of America team works to provide outstanding treatment to pregnant and parenting women in need. To have our level of treatment recognized by our nation’s leading authority on addiction recovery care is an honor and motivates us to serve even more women.”
Here’s to doing just that!
